Skills (top ten) According to FOX TV Network...

I found this article from FOX TV network and I'm not surprised to see that it is again soft skills. I think they (soft skills) are very important but are they gonna get you an interview? or a foot in the door? probably not. Most of the skills FOX is mentioning are things that will be proven after getting hired. Maybe your last job was for fifteen years. Does that prove you are organized? or punctual? or a team player? Not at all.

Read what FOX says and then give me your input. What do you think is the best job skill(s) to possess?

The Way Things Were

Crazy how time flies and all of this equipment at one time was top of the line, new and improved and probably expensive (except the paper ledger). In modern times I do not think it would be possible to have a business without a computer. A business would need to order supplies, pay employees, and save receipts and other tax information. All of those things are easily done with a computer. I personally hate to be without a home computer accessible. Maybe I have a computer and the internet goes out. I hate that also. I feel isolated and alone without the internet near me. I hope you enjoy the pictures of the way things were.

Soft Skills

I found an article that is about "soft skills", the author describes them as "people skills" and the importance of them. Unfortunately some soft skills are really not something you can learn. Curiously, most people that do not possess the trait they lack, do not even realize they lack it. A good example is "common sense", not really a learn-able/teachable subject. People without common sense rarely have the common sense to notice.

Typing. Speed and accuracy.

For years I wish I had trained myself to be a better typist. I am afraid I might be so used to typing incorrectly, it might be nearly impossible to retrain myself correctly. Here is the score I got today.

 I am curious how well others do on the test. Like my 96% accuracy but I am going to put forth effort to improve. I like to challenge myself.


  It only takes one minute and it grades for speed and and deducts for accuracy. Errors in accuracy used top be pulling the paper out, crumpling the page, putting a fresh paper in the typewriter and starting all over again. Obviously a skill that was detrimental to the performance of the office employee. Now, with modern word processors and computers, the paper/pages can be viewed, edited, saved, emailed, and printed. Heck, a dictionary is not even necessary to spell check because the computer is an awesome machine and does it for you.

RSS Feed article

I read an article that Texas A&M uses RSS feed to keep employees up to date on job notices. They want the information to be delivered right to the employee's computer without having to search for it.
